Rule 11 – Tee Shot
Play your tee shot from between and not in front of, the tee markers. You may play your tee shot from up to two club lengths behind the front line of the tee-markers. If you play your tee shot from outside this area, in match play there is no penalty, but your opponent may require you to replay your stroke; in strokeplay, you incur a two-stroke penalty and must correct the error by playing from within the correct area.
Rule 25-1 Exception – as often happens at Sene Valley, your ball rests in a ‘rabbit scrape under a tree’ you are not entitled to a free drop if you would have to use an ‘abnormal swing or stance’ in order to hit your ball if the scrape had not been there.
Rule 12-2 Lifting Ball for Identification
The responsibility for playing the proper ball rests with the player. Each player should put an identification mark on his ball.
If a player believes, that a ball at rest might be his, but he cannot identify it, the player may lift the ball for identification, without penalty.
Before lifting the ball the player must announce his intention, to his opponent in match play or his marker or fellow-competitor in stroke play and mark the position of the ball.
He may then lift the ball and identify it, provided that he gives his opponent, marker or fellow-competitor an opportunity to observe the lifting and replacement. The ball must not be cleaned beyond the extent necessary for identification when lifted.
